There are individuals online advising sisters to not register their islamic marriage in the UK under the assumption that it is haram to do so. This is misguided advice! In the UK, if a sister doesn’t register her nikkah, she isn’t actually protected by any matrimonial law (Islamic or otherwise). Thus a huge risk she is being told to undertake by some inexperienced Muslim youths online. This is a reality people tend on overlook.

At the very least context and circumstances should be considered in order to make an informed decision. There are legitimate scholars and imams in the UK one can consult as opposed to influencers from Hyde Park. Do not listen to young inexperienced YouTubers and Hyde Park influencers who like to brand themselves as daees. They tend to spend a lot of time refuting and bickering, and brand it all as dawah.
